What is Eczema?

Eczema is skin inflammation which makes your skin itch and skin becomes sore, rough and broken.

Types Of Eczema

There are 4 types of eczemas. They are: 

  • Atopic Dermatitis
  • Contact
  • Varicose
  • Pompholyx

Causes Of Eczema

Eczema is commonly found in people with a history of atopic diseases such as asthma, hay fever and other allergies. Usually, 90 % of the patients develop the condition before reaching 5 years of age. The rashes begin on face, scalp, hands and feet. In adults, the rashes are seen inside the knees and elbows, neck, hands and feet. Some of the causes of eczema are: 

  • Allergens
  • Climate conditions
  • Water
  • Cold of Flu
  • Stress
  • Foods
  • Hormones
  • Skin Irritants

Symptoms Of Eczema

The symptoms of Eczema are

  • Skin becomes dry 
  • Skin becomes itchy
  • Itching is increased at the night time
  • Skin becomes red and inflamed
  • Inflamed areas of the skin develop blisters and starts oozing liquid
  • The skin develops red, brown or grey coloured patches
  • There will be bumps appearing on the skin. 

Home Remedies Of Eczema

1. Vegetables Shortening: 


The thick greasy kitchen staple will be the most effective way to cure the dry, cracked skin. Gently coat the affected area, cover it with a plastic wrap and secure it with a surgical tape. Leave it for two to three hours.

2. Turmeric: 


Turmeric reduced inflammation in a number of skin conditions, including psoriasis. Curcumin, an antioxidant found in turmeric, has been shown to protect skin by neutralizing free radicals and reducing wound-healing time.

3. Olive oil: 


Olive oil is a powerful anti-inflammatory agent and it reduces the inflammations caused by eczema. It softens the skin and reduces the skin colour.  Apply the Olive oil directly on the scars. Leave it on the skin for a few minutes. Wipe away the oil using lukewarm water.

4. Fish Oil: 


The fish oil contains omega 3 fatty acids which help to reduce inflammations in the body. This helps to reduce the eczema scars. It is necessary to take a daily dose of 1200 milligrams three times a day to fade away the scars left by eczema attack.

5. Apple Cider Vinegar: 


The antifungal and antibacterial properties of this home remedy help to prevent the flare up of eczema and also help to reduce the scars. Mix two teaspoons of apple cider vinegar and two teaspoons of honey in one glass of water and drink it thrice a day. This home remedy will increase the immunity of the body and helps in reducing inflammation and scarring.
