Home remedies for Edema

Edema, is an abnormal accumulation of fluid in the interstitium, located beneath the skin and in the cavities of the body, which can cause severe pain. It can get in any part of the body. But usually affects the hands, ankles, legs and feet. Edema is a not a disease it is symptom for underlying health problem of the body.

Causes

  • Pregnancy
  • Hot weather
  • Excessive intake of salts and coffee

Six factors can contribute to the formation of edema:

  1. increased hydrostatic pressure;
  2. reduced colloidal or oncotic pressure within blood vessels;
  3. increased tissue colloidal or oncotic pressure;
  4. increased blood vessel wall permeability (e.g., inflammation);
  5. obstruction of fluid clearance in the lymphatic system;
  6. changes in the water retaining properties of the tissues themselves. Raised hydrostatic pressure often reflects retention of water and sodium by the kidney.

Home remedies for Edema are

Remedy 1

Ingredients

  • Coriander seeds
  • Water

How to use

Take 3 tables of coriander seeds and soak them in 1 glass of water  and boil the water  till half is left and now strain the mixture after becoming cool

Dosage

  • Drink twice daily.

Remedy 2

Ingredients

  • barley
  • Water

How to use

Take 3 tables of barley in 1 glass of water  and leave it for overnight and in the morning strain the mixture and drink the mixture till the condition gets cured

Dosage

  • Drink twice daily.

Remedy 3

Ingredients

  • barley
  • Water

How to use

Take handful of parsley leaves and wash them. After washing crush them and make it like a paste apply the paste on the swelling area and leave it on for 30 minutes and wash it off with water

Dosage

  • Repeat this twice daily.
