Migraine is a big headache

Migraine is a primary headache disorder characterized by recurrent headaches that are moderate to severe. Typically, the headaches affect one half of the head, are pulsating in nature, and last from two to 72 hours. Migraines headaches, such as tension headache and sinus headache, are painful.


  • nausea,
  • vomiting,
  • sensitivity to light,
  • sensitivity to sound,
  • sensitivity to smell.

Signs of Migraines

There are four possible phases to a migraine, although not all the phases are necessarily experienced:

  • The prodrome, which occurs hours or days before the headache
  • The aura, which immediately precedes the headache
  • The pain phase, also known as headache phase
  • The postdrome, the effects experienced following the end of a migraine attack

Signs like irritability, food cravings, a stiff neck, constipation and frequent yawning may also occur a couple of days prior to a migraine attack.


Migraines are believed to be due to a mixture of environmental and genetic factors but the underlying causes of migraines are unknown and some psychological conditions are associated with Migraine are

  • depression,
  • anxiety,
  • bipolar disorder
  • Many factors have been identified as migraine triggers
    • Some birth control pills
    • Variouis foods
      • Red wines
      • Chocolates etc.,
      • Dairy products
      • Alcohol beverages
    • Alcohol beverages
    • Environmental conditions like
      •  indoor air quality and lighting etc.,

Diagnose migraines based on your medical history, symptoms, and a physical and neurological examination


  • Migraine treatment usually with prescription drugs like  triptans for example sumatriptan, rizatriptan, eletriptan, almotriptan

Some home remedies for Migraines are :

Remedy 1


  • Ice cubes

How to prepare and use

Wrap a few ice cubes in a clean towel and place it on your temples, forehead and/or the back of your neck for 10 to 15 minutes.


  • Repeat as needed.

Remedy 2


  • Apple cider vinegar
  • Honey

How to prepare and use

Add one tablespoon of organic apple cider vinegar to a glass of water. Mix in one tablespoon of honey. Drink it.


  • Drink this daily

Remedy 3


  • Ginger tea
  • Lemon juice

How to prepare and use

Add ginger in the teapot and pour boiling water in it. Let it steep for about 10 minutes. If you are using a saucepan, strain the water to remove the ginger. Add fresh lemon juice and natural sweetener if you like.


  • Drink 2 to 3 times a day.
