The carrot is a root vegetable, usually orange in colour. It is one of the most versatile root vegetables around – a result of its sweet flavour. The scientific name of Carrot are Daucus carota. Daucus carota is a biennial plant that grows a rosette of leaves while building up the taproot that stores large amounts of sugars to provide energy for the plant to flower in the second year.
